Dear Friends:

I will offer the same PAMS 2.5-6 Year Level, Montessori Teacher Education Program this year as last year. It will again include the intensive 7-week, face-to-face Summer instruction format followed by 10 months of study and supervised practice with materials. A Clinical Practicum of one academic year in a Montessori classroom is also required.

Summer Dates: Monday, June 6 through Friday, July 22, 2016

Summer Schedule: Five days a week, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (bring a lunch)

Summer Instruction Program- The seven weeks of instruction will include:

1. The Scientific Foundations of the Montessori System of Education

2. Motor Development and Refined Control of Movement Through Exercises of Practical Life

3. Sensorial Foundations of Intellectual Life

4. The Cultivation of Listening, Sight Singing and Notation with the Montessori Bells and Boards and the Zóltan Kodály Music Education System

5. The Development of Language and Literacy Skills in One or More Languages Through a Structured Sequence of Activities

6. The Early Preparation of the Mathematical Mind

7. Science and Cultural Studies

8. The Science of Peace Curriculum

Teachers’ Manuals:

You will be given complete digital teachers’ manuals for Motor, Sensorial, Language, Math and Cultural Studies for your Laptop Computer or Tablet. You will be able to follow each of the 1,250 presentations (lesson plans) that my Assistants and I will model for you with the Montessori materials in class every day. You will also receive hard copies of all of the lectures and of the Music and Peace Curriculum Manuals.

Required Study and Supervised Practice:

From August, 2016 through May, 2017 you will study Montessori Literature and turn in your written assignments. You will meet for supervised practice with Montessori materials in the PAMS Model Montessori Classroom at Kennesaw State University from 9:00 – 1:00 the last Saturday of every month.

Required Practicum Experience:

If you are not already working in a Montessori classroom, let us know as soon as possible so that we can help to place you in a Montessori school during the 2016-2017 Academic Year, where you can conduct your required Clinical Practice Teaching Internship.

Qualifying and Final Oral/Practical Examinations:

You may present a Qualifying Examination on Saturday, April 15 or Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 and the Final Oral/Practical Examination before a Society Examiner on Saturday, May 13 or Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017.

International Certification:

When you complete all of the requirements of this program, you will qualify for International Certification as a Montessori Teacher by PAMS. For more information about PAMS, please see: www.montessori-pams.org

Accreditation:

The Pan American Montessori Society’s Early Childhood Teacher Education Programs at KSU are accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
